It's official the build has commenced!

With Easter, holidays and Master P turning the big 1, it has been a very busy couple of weeks. We had a little BBQ on the weekend to celebrate his special day, which Master P slept through half of.... Lol
So back to the build.... We went out on Friday and marked out the house, the garage and Mr D's shed, which resulted in me having a sleepless night and eventually waking hubby up at some ungodly hour to tell him we have to swop the house and the garage around. Let's just say he is less than impressed but is going to re peg it for me this week. Happy wife happy life. hehe...
Mr D is building a big shed about 80m from the house, which when finished will allow us to safely store the materials while we build and then will become his man cave. Men...
The shed pad was rolled over the weekend and the concreter started the form work today and will hopefully be pour the slab on Thursday. So I guess this where I officially get to say THE BUILD HAS COMMENCED!

Bathroom ideas....

While I'm waiting for the construction plans to be finalised meaning we can finally get this show on the road, I have been getting prices on all the bathroom items I need. Being more than 360km from the nearest supply shops means that I have to do a lot of shopping online and request samples wait for them to arrive via snail mail before I can make any decisions. It also means that I have to factor freight which is costly and is going to eat into my budget big time.

So after looking online for freestanding tubs I have found a winner....

Isn't it abosultley stunning, I had to convince Mr D that it is an investment and told him that given it is freestanding we could technically take it with us if we move. He responded that he hopes that we can afford a new bath if we move. I secretly thought that given what my ideas are for the interior we may not be able to afford to eat when I finish building but thought against telling him this. I even got them to include free delivery which is a bonus given it coming from Brisbane which is over 1000km by road..

Some bathroom inspiration....

Below is some beautiful photos that I had saved in my ideas folder, sorry for not noting the sources... I'm hoping to create something similar at my house

Until next time

A Country House

I'm starting this blog as a way to journal the build of my dream home in the country. It is also going to be somewhere I share my thoughts and ideas about not only my love of design but my beautiful family. I hope those who stumble across my blog enjoy what they read and share their thoughts with me.

So the beginning.... Back in November we brought 10 acres to build our dream home on, when I say "our" I really mean build "my dream home" as Mr D aka husband does not really mind what the house is like as long as I'm happy. Scored! Well that is not entirely right he does care but let's just say he is easily swayed.... Back to the house, we are building a country homestead with all the trimmings, high ceilings, sweeping verandahs, french doors, butlers sink. Sigh.... It makes me smile just thinking about it. We have just finalised the floor plans and the construction plans are being drafted, I will post the plans when I figure out how. You will have to be patient with me I'm still nutting things out.

Until next time
Cheers
